NEWSLETTER 8 – AUGUST 2010
This term is going very fast – we are already half way through it! We have had a busy term already….
LOCAL DIRECTORIES SPONSORSHIP
Some exciting news for our studio is that Dance Star Studio has been very fortunate to receive a sponsorship from Local Directories. Some of our students participated in a photo shoot on Saturday 14 August where they could be on the front cover of the Local Directories phone book. The sponsorship money will go towards workshops which I am planning to hold next year.
CONCERT INFORMATION
It is that time of year again where I will start giving out a lot of notes about the concert – costumes, time for groups, etc. If you miss a class just contact me (e-mail is usually the best) to see if you have missed out on any information. There will also be notes on the noticeboard so please check regularly. The times for Saturday afternoon classes will also be on the board.
Costumes
Over the next few weeks, costume samples will arrive and these will be tried on the children in their class times. These costumes will then be ordered. An invoice will be given out and when payment has been received the costumes will be handed out when they have arrived.
Chocolates
Thank you to Sue Shearer, Renee Stein, Angela Richardson, Tina Binney and Roslyn Kyriazis for sorting out the chocolates for the fundraising. There is a maximum of two boxes of chocolates for each family. One box will be given out and when the money is returned another one will be given out. Please remember to put your name on the envelope when you hand it in.
Fundraising for costumes
Please remember that fundraising is only to be used for costumes - they are not to be used for fees. If you do more fundraising than your costumes are worth – this money will go towards the studio’s fundraising which helps pay for theatre fees, break-up party, etc.
FOOD AND DRINKS FOR SALE
On Saturdays there will be chips and chocolates for sale. The chips will be on top of the fridge in the waiting room and will cost 70 cents – the money is to be placed in the drinks box. The chocolates will be on a table outside the main studio - the cost of a chocolate is $1.20. Bottles of water and poppers are available everyday. They are in the fridge in the waiting room and cost $1.00. Please remember that it is an honesty system and all money raised will benefit you!
BOLLYWOOD WORKSHOP
The Bollywood workshop with Asha and Tiffany from Bollywood Dhamaka was a great afternoon. The students all loved the different type of dance and Asha and Tiffany were very impressed with all the children’s ability. I hope to have them here again for another workshop as it was lots of fun.

We will be holding a fathers day raffle. If you have any prizes or would like to give a monetary (gold coin) donation that would be appreciated. All prizes and money to be in by Wednesday 1 September. We will draw the raffle on Saturday 4 September. Tickets will be handed out very soon.
